The games will be held under the Fisher system time control with 1 hour and 20 minutes for the game + 50 seconds added for each move.
The players are required to document the moves after they are done. With Fisher
system, there is no "time trouble” excuse not to record - the game must be
recorded at all times!
International Checkers:
This game is one of the most widespread checkers variants in the world. The game
is played on
“10 X 10 board”
and each player has 20 pieces (men). There are several
specific rules, regarding piece moving and capturing: men move one space
diagonally forward only, but can capture diagonally forward or backward. Kings
(promoted pieces -
2 Men
stacked)
move any number of spaces diagonally forward or backward, and can capture any
number of spaces diagonally forward or backward as well. Jumped checkers are removed from the board after the full move is performed and every enemy
checker can be jumped over only once.
It is mandatory to capture as many pieces (as one multi-jump) as possible. When a checker (man) reaches the last
row, it promotes to a King (2
Men stacked).
However, if a man reaches the last row while jumping and can jump more pieces
backwards, it does not promote and continues jumping as a man.
